On Site ActivitiesThe Ghost River Crossing Conference Centre lies in a secluded river valley where the foothills meet the Rocky Mountains. The Ghost River winds through the property and is a favorite with anglers and fly fishermen. Some of the numerous onsite recreational activities include fishing, hiking, and wildlife sighting. Billiards, ping-pong and darts are popular evening pursuits. A rousing game of horseshoes or just relaxing in a chair by a blazing bonfire on the banks of the river completes the day. Trails wind their way up and over the hills or along the river for the more adventurous. A natural swimming hole is carved out of the rocks down by the river and invites you for an invigorating swim on a hot day. Guests are encouraged to bring their mountain bikes or their running shoes for a good workout on the scenic 40 which follows a breath-taking route to the mountains. Winter at the Ghost offers special adventures. Try snow picnics around a fire down by the river, snowshoeing or long invigorating walks in the snow. Bring your cross-country skies and forge your own trails along the riverbank.Inside, several fireplaces surrounded by deep comfortable chairs tempt you to curl up with a good book from our library. Off Site:Various off site activities can be arranged: Nearby in the town of Cochrane are two challenging first class 18 hole golf courses. Find that special gift by shopping in the many boutiques and artisan shops that line the western themed main street. After a day of golfing and shopping stop for a world famous MacKay's ice cream cone. Or hike the trail on the historic Cochrane Ranche up to the Men of Vision statue for a panoramic view of the mountains. Several ranches in the vicinity offer trail riding. Team Building can take on a brand new meaning with a wild ride down the river while white water rafting. ATV tours can be arranged for a challenging but picturesque outing in the Waiparous Valley, a twenty minute drive from the Centre. In the winter, nearby ranches offer sleigh rides followed by a mug of hot chocolate to put you in the spirit of the season. Cross country and downhill skiing are only 45 minutes away in Kanaskis Country. |
